Android One smartphones are usually known for being particularly cheap and produced for the new and entry level users, therefore offering the down drawer specifications for a smartphone. However, android one users in Japan are in for a treat as a variant with the android one software would be produced and have on board a water resistance system, the first of its kind since this programme came to be in the year 2014.
What makes this prospect even more interesting is that this would be the first android one smartphone manufactured by Sharp and being new to the market, they would definitely want to impress.
Codenamed the ‘Sharp 507SH’, the device would be resistant to not only water but also dust, carry a 5 inch display with screen resolution at a modest 720p, and runs on a QUALCOMM snapdragon 617 chipset having eight cores (octa core). The back of the device carries a 13MP shooter and under the hood is a 2GB CPU processor and an internal storage space of 16GB with options for expansion. The battery is set at an average 3010mAh but the manufacturers have promised that a full charge is enough juice for 3 days on modest usage.
Set to be available in the Japanese markets in colours of cyan, black and white, the android one smartphone would build its functionality on the android 6.0 marshmallow platform and is promised updates up till a year and half after the release. Currently, the market price is quoted to be around $100 – $200 which reads around N28,000 to N56,000 in Nigeria with the current exchange rates.
