Google's Pixel & Pixel Xl Phone Full Specifications

Google has done away with the Nexus name in favour for the Pixel moniker. Google had introduced the Pixel branding with the Android tablet and the Chromebook. The emphasis is to move in a direction where future devices are made by Google itself.

Google Pixel, codenamed Sailfish, is a 5-inch device that will reportedly run on the Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. According to a GFKBenchmark report, the device will feature an 12MP rear camera and will support 4K video recording. The front camera on it is expected to be 8MP.

Reports over the past few months have said that the larger of the two devices, codenamed Marlin (Pixel XL), will be the flagship of the two. It will feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display. Benchmark leaks of the device show tha the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor that would come with 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM. The phone is expected to be backed by a 3,450 mAh battery.

The Pixel and Pixel XL will really only differ in display size/resolution (5″, 1080p vs. 5.5″, 1440p), battery capacity (2770mAh vs. 3450mAh), and in overall phone size and weight. By all means, these phones are equals and seem to have been built for those who want choices between big and normal sized phones.

Specs that are the same in both new phones include a 2.15GHz 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB/128GB storage, 12.3-megapixel camera (f/2.0, 1.55um pixels and optical image stabilization), 8-megapixel front camera, fingerprint scanner, USB-C support and NFC. Both phones will run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, with Google Assistant and unlimited Google Photos storage. Oh, and both models will include a 3.5mm headphone jack.
